Den prisbelønnede serie følger familien Bellamy og dens tjenestefolk i London i begyndelsen af det forrige århundrede. I den øverste del af det fornemme palæ på Eaton Place 165 lever parlamentsmedlemmet Richard Bellamy og hans kone som medlemmer af det aristokratiske borgerskab. Nedenunder er tjenestefolkene indkvarteret under ledelse af den stolte, skotske butler Hudson, som af og til må huske sine stuepiger på, at de ikke er af adelig herkomst.

Multiple award winning (including ones from BAFTA, the Writers Guild, the Royal Television Society, Emmies and Golden Globes) the series features endearing and memorable performances from Jean Marsh (Rose), Gordon Jackson (Hudson), Angela Baddeley (Mrs. Bridges) and Pauline Collins (Sarah) and was produced by the legendary John Hawkesworth (The Duchess Of Duke Street, By The Sword Divided, the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes stories).
Series one of Upstairs Downstairs takes place between 1903 and 1909 and concerns itself with the goings on of both the family and the staff at 165 Eaton Place, home of politician Richard Bellamy and his family - wife Marjorie, wastrel son James and wayward daughter Elizabeth. The domestic staff are headed by Hudson the Butler, a conservative and very proper Scot who has to contend with the 'below stairs' behaviour of the household staff, amongst them cook Mrs Bridges and maids Rose and Sarah.
This set contains all thirteen episodes of series one, including the rarely-seen black and white episodes, all of which have been digitally remastered to a very high level of quality. They have never looked this good!
